Naomi, this week you are right about 4.75 or even 5 pounds! And you measure between 18 and 20 inches long. Your central nervous system is maturing, as are your lungs. This will continue for several more weeks. Vernix, the waxy coating on your skin, will thicken some more before it starts to shed in the next couple of weeks. The fat deposits under your skin continue to fill you out and make your skin smoother. Your fingernails are fully grown, but your toenails are not. We love you very much.
I have still only gained 1 pound in pregnancy. Adding up Naomi's weight, the weight of my uterus, the amniotic fluid, the thickening of my hips, legs, belly and breasts, I've probably "lost"10 pounds of my own, non-pregnancy related weight. But the OB says that Naomi is measuring well, so I have to hope that all is fine. I've had to cut out sulfur from my diet, which stinks (ha, ha). My ribs hurt, my pelvis hurts, and I've got a lot of extra junk on my mind that keeps me slightly stressed. But my blood pressure continues to be excellent, I have minimal swelling, and Jared is a huge help.
Naomi moved a lot less this Tuesday and Wednesday, leading me to call the OB and they told me to go to the hospital for a non-stress test. This monitors the baby's heartbeat and movement for 20 minutes. Naomi passed and then started moving more like I am used to.
Jared and I have been working on the nursery: putting the decals and other art on the walls, sorting and hanging clothes, etc. Even Kathryn has helped a little. :)
