Hi Naomi, if you were born this week, you'd be classified as "early full term." Your brain and lungs won't be fully mature for another 2 weeks, so it's best to stay put. At your last appointment, the US tech estimated you to be 6.5 pounds. Since it's an imperfect science, you may grow to that weight by the end of this week. During the ultrasound, you were moving some, and sucking on your arm. Unfortunately, the tech said she would email me the pictures, and it's been a week and she hasn't done so. You've probably shed the waxy vernix on your skin, and also the downy lanugo. We love you very much.
I'm getting up before dawn each morning to use the restroom, and waking up each time I need to turn over. I think waking 6-8 times a night, total. So, I'm pretty tired, every day, all the time. I'm not experiencing a lot of heartburn or sulfur, which is nice. And I'm achy in my back, pelvis and legs, but not terribly painful. I am having some anxiety based on everything that's not done yet--still haven't packed that hospital bag!
This next week is busy--doctor visits, Easter pictures, self-care visits (hair cut/colored, massage, etc), Kathryn's last research study evaluation, meeting with our doula again....and unless the doctor tells me otherwise, I'll be working until labor. Hoping the self-care appointments will give me some pain relief and a bit of energy, and maybe I won't have much longer to wait to meet Naomi!
