Naomi, you're 23 weeks and starting the 24th. This week you'll grow to 1 1/3 lbs and nearly a foot long. Your brain is grown quickly, your taste buds are forming, and your lungs are developing branches for respiratory function. You are making white blood cells and your brain is almost at the function of a newborn, allowing you conscious thought and possibly early memory. Your auditory abilities mean that songs we repeat now will be the ones that calm you when you arrive. You respond to some noises, and you respond when someone like your daddy presses on my stomach. You don't like your space disturbed! We love you very much.
I have had some mild swelling this week, a little residual nausea and some acid reflux. I'm out of breath a lot and a little short-tempered. Still working on that. Thanksgiving is this coming week and we must be very careful not to let it slip to family that we're having a girl--the gender reveal is supposed to be the following week. Jared, Kathryn and I went shopping for car seats and strollers last night--it was pretty fun!
