Hi, Naomi! Welcome to week 26. This week you'll grow to 1 2/3 lbs, maybe even 2! And you could be up to 14 inches long! Your hearing is fully developed and you can hear me, Jared and Kathryn talk to one another. If you decided to arrive this week (please don't!), you'd have a 50-80% chance of survival. You're taking practice breaths of amniotic fluid. Your lungs are growing, but not mature. Your brain waves, however, resemble those of a newborn! And you do have waking and sleeping patterns now. We love you very much.
I'm very tired. Thanks to a mix of joint pain, someone snoring, and bad dreams, I don't sleep well anymore. Ever. I had a regular appointment this week and was told everything still looks great. I've gained a grand total of one pound. I did go back on a small dose of my anti-anxiety and depression meds. It may take a week or so to tell a difference, but I think it will be a good change. Beyond that, I am achy and need to see the chiropractor again, maybe even get another massage. But I guess 25 weeks isn't so bad.
This past week we did share Naomi's name and gender with family and friends. I decorated for Christmas today and put her stocking up. It's very neat to see all four stockings, representing four members of our family. Jared put together our double stroller and checked the car seat that was delivered. We are building a "wish list" as we find inspiration for Naomi's nursery and also tagging things that we'll need the second time around, like new bottles, pacifiers, baby shampoo, etc.
