Eighteenth week started today

Hi Naomi/Clover, you start week 18 today!  You'll grow to 5.5-6 inches long and weigh about 5-7 oz.  You're flexing your arms and legs, and once in a while I think I can feel it.  Your uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in the right places.  Your hair is filling in, and your lungs are working to inhale and exhale.  Your circulatory and urinary systems are working!  You can yawn, and you may be able to detect light through your eyelids.  We love you very much.

I feel out of breath and dizzy, a lot.  Even light-headed and about to pass out sometimes.  I am gassy and my varicose veins are hurting.  I get headaches a lot and don't sleep well.  This pregnancy is a lot harder than Kathryn's.  But it is worth it.

We hired a doula, Anna Cole, this past week.  She seems a good match for us and I'm glad.  And I am trying to make a decision on moving providers or not.  I found out through Anna that I am not risked out of the birth center in Cary.  Originally, that was my first choice, but I thought I couldn't go there.  I like where I am, but they don't have a NICU.  And it is a hospital, so I run the risk of more intervention.  But if I switch to the birth center, I risk "risking out" and being transferred to a practice that has a history of being rude and hateful towards natural birth.  And, right now, I don't know what I'm going to do.
