Naomi, you're 39 full weeks today. That makes you "full term" and between now and 41 weeks is the optimal birthing time. At least 15% of your weight consists of fat, which helps you regulate your temperature outside the womb. You've stored starch in your liver to be converted to glucose after you're born. You are almost done shedding your vernix, the waxy coating on your skin, so you may start getting dry patches of skin this week, due to the amniotic fluid. You're probably anywhere from 6-9 pounds and 19-22 inches. You may be born this week, or next, but will probably arrive before 41 weeks. Only 5% of all babies are born on their due date, so I wouldn't put stock there! We love you very much.
Last week was terrible, but this one has been a bit better. I have had some physical signs that labor is soon--soon being anywhere from a day to two weeks, so not that helpful. I slept a little better, took a day off work to get some things done, and was glad to get some stuff accomplished. We're kind of just hanging around at this point, waiting for something to happen.
I took Kathryn to a couple of local parks/playgrounds this week, including the one that her big sister Angel is buried at. And I took her to the St. Patrick's Day parade this morning, and we will be seeing Jared's parents and then mine this weekend. Monday will be my OB appointment at 39 weeks 2 days. We haven't really placed anything else on the calendar in anticipation of Naomi coming, so just a regular work week planned.
