Week Nine

Clover, welcome to the 3rd month!  Your tail is gone, your heart has divided into 4 chambers.  You have shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles, and you're using them to make small movements.  Your liver is developing now, and your eyes are fully formed. You might be up to an inch or even an inch and a half long.  We love you very much.

I have extreme fatigue.  I nearly fall asleep driving, I do fall asleep at work or laying down at home.  This is very different from with Kathryn!  Another difference is the morning sickness.  With Kathryn I threw up first thing in the morning, and then felt mostly better the rest of the day.  Now, I start feeling badly in mid-afternoon and the nausea keeps up through the evening.

Jared and I met the woman we hope will be our OB for my pregnancy and Clover's delivery.  Her name is Dr. Jodi Bailey of Triangle Premier Women's Health.  She works with the Johnston Memorial Hospital on Hwy 42, 10 minutes from our home.  I really like that, and I really like her.  I was nervous that they don't have a NICU or NCC area, but was assured that at the first sign of need, the helicopter is prepped, and it *is* NICU-capable.  Also, if they have to transfer the baby, I am transferred as well.  So, everything sounds great to us!  We also had an ultrasound and saw Clover and her/his heart beating.  We got to hear it, too!  It was 159 bpm and s/he was measuring perfectly for 7w5d (how far along I was on the appt date).  We'll go back the first week of September, where I will have the MaterniT21 testing for genetic abnormalities, and also for gender!  So, we'll be finding out if Clover is a boy or girl at about 13 weeks, instead of 18-20.
